Public rooms very good standard, hence disappointment over bedroom, but overall would return.

Positive: Clean, comfortable bed, plenty of linen, reasonable air condition, Close to all amenities, easy walking distance to town along Promenade

Negative: Rooms disappointing after seeing public rooms - clean but "tired"

Outside: Close to public transport, bars, restaurants & beach

Really enjoyed my stay at Locarno. Would stay there again.

Positive: Clean with very helpful, pleasant staff. Quite well situated, not too far from train and bus stations and only few minutes walk from Promenade des Anglais. Plenty of shops, cafes/bars all around.

The hotel's first floor bedrooms need updating as we had two rooms and doors were open on others for cleaning and we could see they were the same standard as ours. Some carpets were very stained, tiny shower rooms very old and in bad repair. There was no space for 4 towels and they were piled up in the space for one. We had hooks missing, few lightbulbs, terrible woodwork and badly painted walls in the room. The bed was basic and adequate. There was a flat screen TV in the room, useful as space was limited. The hallways were dismal but the entrance and lounge were fine and had a large TV if required. There was a hot/cold drinks machine 1.5-2.0 euros. Breakfast was basic with bread, pain au chocolat and mini croissant with butter, jam and coffee/tea, orange juice. There were also cereals and yoghurt. The staff were all professional and helpful with booking a tour and taxis. It is not their fault that the hotel needs refurbishing. We are not aware if we were given the worst rooms as the hotel had a large Russian party staying and was full up.

On arrival, later than expected, we were greeted well. First floor corridor walls were rough plastered and painted pink. Skirting boards and doors had seen better days. Some internal glass was broken or missing. The lift was very old but functioning and held 2 people. My room was very disappointing with a shabby and stained carpet, 1980s pink bathroom suite with plenty of blackened sealant and 6 inches between the WC and shower to squeeze through (no bath). All fittings were old, lightbulbs and TV remote missing, telephone didn't work to call Reception etc etc. Breakfast was typical minimal continental but I wasn't expecting anything else. I read another review mentioning 'ladies of the night' outside the Hotel entrance and can confirm that this is the case in the evenings, however one was not a lady (on 2nd glance). No problems were caused. The hotel staff were helpful and challenged by being full up with guests. I recommend that the hotel is removed from your books until it has been refurbished. It is however a few yards from the sea and restaurants etc. which is convenient.

The hotel is ideally situated for getting about Nice close to the very adequate local bus network. Some areas of the hotel do have a worn look about them, though it did appear that the hotel is undergoing a cosmetic upgrade.Considering that one pays for a breakfast it would be nice if there was a little more variety offered, and it would be more convenient to have tea or coffee making facilities available in the rooms instead of a dispensing machine in the reception area. However we found the hotel acceptable, and the staff at all times, most helpful and accommodating. We would certainly go back again.

The website stated rooms had tea/coffee facilities, hairdryers and irons/ironing boards but none of these were provided and the staff did not seem bothered when we raised the subject.

This hotel is awful. The tiny, dark, grubby room stank of damp carpet, had little or no hanging-space, no hot water, a sink that would not drain, and none of the in-room tea/coffee making facilities advertised. A group of prostitutes touted passing drivers from the front step of the hotel from about 9 p.m. each night. We moved out after one night having telephoned Easyhotels, and were assured that we would receive a refund for the remaining four nights. We did complain to the hotel management first, but their replies were unsatisfactory. The alternative hotel was clean, bright and the same price.
