It is just 800 meters away from its sister hotel, the 4-star Hotel Santana, and only a ten minute walk away from the picturesque 2.5 km promenade, a small man made sandy beach, various rocky beaches, public transport, shops, bars, restaurants, a Casino, a multiplex cinema, the national aquarium and various other recreational facilities. Despite its modern exterior, the hotel’s interior design reflects traditional Maltese architectural characteristics through the use of Maltese limestone. The Sunflower Hotel is tastefully designed and offers most of the facilities found in a 4-star hotel. Since the hotel opened its doors in 2003, it has gained a reputation for personalized attention and enjoys a strong base of repeat customers. The resort of St. Paul’s Bay: The resort of St. Paul’s Bay is made up of Qawra, Bugibba and the village of St. Paul’s Bay. The resort is linked through a 2.5km promenade which affords it with stunning coastal walks and plenty of small bays in which one can swim. The resort has numerous restaurants, cafés, bars and shops. In Qawra one also finds a casino, the national aquarium, a man made sandy beach and a bus station offering regular bus service to all parts of the Maltese islands. Hotel facilities Hotel facilities include a 24 hour reception, buffet restaurant and outdoor terrace, 24 hour bar, an attractively designed roof top pool (May to October) and sunbathing terrace, both enjoying open sea and country views, a swim-up pool bar (May to October), an indoor pool which is heated in winter, a treatments/massage room and also a games room. Accommodation The Sunflower Hotel offers a mixture of standard and superior rooms, all designed to complement the rest of the hotel’s interior design reflecting Maltese traditions. The Geranium Restaurant: This fully air-conditioned restaurant is situated at ground floor level with two adjacent open terraces. Its attractive, elegant yet informal design depicts Maltese architectural traditions, featuring arched stone doorways and wrought iron. The Geranium is open for breakfast and dinner and offers a variety of meals including a number of vegetarian options and a selection of local dishes. Breakfast is enriched continental buffet, offering a hot item, a selection of hot and cold beverages, a variety of breads, toast and croissants, spreads and jams, cold meats and cheese cuts, yogurt, cereals, cake and fruit. A cooked, plated, breakfast is also available at a small supplement. Dinners are buffet style offering a choice of local and international dishes with a number of regularly organized theme nights such as Maltese Night and Carvery Nights. Specific dietary requirements can be catered for on request. The Amaryllis Bar: The fully air-conditioned cafeteria, located on the ground floor, adjacent to the lobby, is informal yet smart and comfortable making it the ideal place for meeting up with friends or simply to relax in a friendly, intimate atmosphere. It offers a variety of hot and cold beverages and a variety of snacks. In the winter months, a cozy open fireplace makes it the perfect place to while away the hours. The Outdoor Pool and the Wardija Pool Bar: The Sunflower Hotel offers an attractively designed roof top swimming pool and sunbathing terrace, both enjoying open sea and country views. The swimming pool is equipped with a whirlpool and one can swim up to the pool bar or simply relax by sitting on the submerged benches. There is also a small, separate, children’s paddling pool. The pool terrace, which is serviced by a pool bar, is also an ideal venue for evening entertainment during the warm summer months. The outdoor pool and bar are open between May & October. The Wardija Pool Bar serves local and international beverages, a variety of light snacks as well as grills. Tailor-made menus for BBQs and parties to fit all tastes and budgets are available on request. The Indoor Pool The hotel’s indoor pool is heated during the winter and is closed for a short period during the peak summer months. Adjacent to the pool we also have massage and beauty treatment facilities.
